Southwest AIrlines Raises Fees, Looks to Raise Revenue By $100M

Southwest Airlines has announced that they will start charging increased fees for a third checked bag and will also start charging passengers who don't show up for their flight. The goal is for Southwest to raise their revenues by about $100 million next year.

Southwest is balancing their notion that they are a "low cost" airline while also keeping employee pay up and deal with increasing fuel prices. It will be interesting to see if we see a change in the next year and those "Bags Fly Free" stickers on the side of Southwest planes go away and even Southwest starts charging for bags.
