Breakfast in Seattle? It's worth the drive 20 miles South

This weekend was an amazing trip, not just because it helped me cross the barrier to UA Silver, but because of the time I got to spend with my family. As I previously mentioned it was my dad's birthday this past week and I was able to get to Seattle just in time to celebrate the last hour of his actual birthday and then the whole weekend.

My family lives to the south of Seattle and one of our traditions is to go out to breakfast at the same place every time and trust me....if you are in Seattle, Portland, Vancouver (Ok maybe not Portland or Vancouver) it's worth the drive to go to the Sun Break Cafe in Auburn, Wa.

This cafe is located in downtown Auburn right across from the train and bus station. It's a no frills cafe that has a line that can wrap around the restaurant on the weekends. Don't mess around and make sure you arrive before 9-9:30 if you want to get a table right away. If you are not an early riser....just be prepared to wait, don't worry it's worth it.

Once you are seated you only need to look at one area of the menu....the scrambles. I ALWAYS go with the "all together" scramble which is a mix of a various veggies and meats with tons of eggs and cheese. You can select either a whole or a half order. If you are hungry, get the half...if you are not hungry, get the half. If you want leftovers for days...get the whole.

This is a half order

The key is after you decide on the half or whole you will want to get an order of banana bread instead of toast. Their banana bread is so delicious, always served warm with a generous slice of butter. But don't trust just my judgement....their banana bread is so good that someone BROKE DOWN THE DOOR to get it.

Maybe it's because it holds so many great memories of breakfast with my parents, but the Sun Break Cafe is a place that always has amazing staff that always keeps your coffee cup full, amazing food that leaves you full for days and banana bread (can you tell it's good). If you have a free day in Seattle, come down here to have some breakfast and then explore some of the awesome towns in the south sound.
