TSA Staffing Levels Lead to Long Lines at Sea-Tac

As Sea-Tac airport enters its highest levels of travel all year, going from 85,000 passengers per day to over 100,000 passengers many are arriving only to see a snaking security line and a shuttered TSA security check point staring them in the face.

KIRO news is reporting that some passengers faced over an hour and a half wait in the security line due to reduced TSA staffing levels associated with the sequester. Though funding was added last month to keep FAA controllers in their posts, the same was not done for TSA employees. The result is a passenger load that just keeps increasing while the security personnel keeps decreasing. It's so extreme that some flights at Sea-Tac that were booked full were flying out with over 40 open seats on the high end and dozens of open seats on the low end.

Delays like this make TSA Pre-Check look better and better.
