Look What I Got In My Mailbox

Yesterday, my mailbox was filled with many diffrent things.

First, an offer from my Banana Republic Visa:

The offer is 5 Points per $1 at Grocery Stores and 3 Points per $1 at Restaurants. I might take them up on the grocery offer, as I don't have a card now offering more than 1 point. This offer is from May 1st until June 30th. No registration required.

The next thing is my new razor from Dollar Shave Club. I decided to move up to the $6 blade from the $1 blade. I like the $1 blade, but I wanted to see if there was a difference.

Also, there cards that they include every month are hilarious. This month's is: "Your Mother-In-Law Should Be Irritating. Not Your Razor." He He He . . .

The final thing was a letter from my Hilton AMEX letting me know about the changes to Hilton AXON rewards. Many people have written about it here, here, and here. However, I found the letter a little cold and   plane rude.

The last line is the one that is the one that stings the worse:

"If you are not satisfied with these changes you can cancel your account by calling us at
1-800-297-1000 before June 15, 2013. If you cancel, the changes won't impact your account.
However, you won't be able to use your Card for new transactions and you'll still have to pay down
           your balance."

Telling me accept this change or we'll shut down your card is no way to win loyalty, American Express! Your acting like United, now.

Look What I Got In My Mailbox Yesterday!!

I love coming home to credit card offers in my mail box. Normally its a Discover card, which gets shredded pretty quickly. Today, it was the Delta AMEX Gold Card with a 40,000 mile offer after spending $1,000 in three months. I wrote about this 40,000 point offer here. I find it funny that less than a week ago I post about it and now I have the offer in the mail.

Again . . . I probably won't get this offer due to being in the middle of offers, but those participating in the Delta Grandslam with me, should consider this offer.

Always Open Your Mail

Earlier this week, I came home from work and quickly through my mail in a pile. I never check the mail the day I receive it. Don't know why I do this, but it has become a part of my normal routine.

I was going disregard this flyer from Banana Republic, but I am happy I took a second look

The flyer offered me a $20 Reward Card if I used my Banana Republic Visa card 4 times outside of their stores before October 31, 2012. The details are here:

Looks like the Banana Republic card is going back into the wallet for a few days. $20 to spend at Banana Republic for swiping the credit card four times is to easy.

Why do I talk about this on a travel points blog?

In the past, some of the best credit card sign-up bonuses have been sent via mail. For example, I received an offer for 50,000 bonus miles for getting the United Explorer Card. At the time, the best published offer was 40,000 miles.

Chase has made it somewhat easier by creating this website. By going to this website, you can see if you have been targeted by Chase for any offers.

Lesson Learned: Always open all of your mail in a timely manner. If something comes from a credit card company, open it up. It may be a sign-up bonus offer or bonus miles for spending in certain categories  Either way, it could mean more miles for you.
