Offer from Bank of America

I got an email from Bank of America Alaska Airlines credit card. While I signed up for it, I probably won't use it.

The offer is triple the miles (3X) on purchased made with the Alaska Airlines credit card on qualifying Home Improvement stores through June 30, 2014.

The purchases can be made at hardware, interior furnishing and garden supply stores. As I am renter, I don't really have a need for items from a Home Improvement stores. However, I signed up for the promotion anyways, because who knows what will occur in the next three months.

Did you get this offer?

Check Your MailBox

Yesterday, I received an interesting offer from Bank of America and Alaska Airlines. Earlier this year, I got the Bank of America Alaska Airlines credit card.

I used the card once and put it in the sock drawer. The new offer, ask me to make charge one monthly bill to the credit card by October 30th to earn a $15 gift card.

"Thank you for your business. We appreciate you choosing Bank of America for your credit card
needs, and as a valued customer we have an offer especially for you - a $15 gift card to Target,
Starbucks, or Best Buy for using your Alaska Airlines Visa Signature credit card to pay bills
automatically - a convenient option that saves you time and helps you earn more rewards each
    month."

The monthly bill needs to be in the following categories:

       - Telcomm,
       - Internet Service Provider
       - Cable/Satellite
       - Insurance.

My plan is to switch my cell phone bill for a month. Then I am switching it back to my Ink Bold card.

If all goes by plan, I should have my gift card by December!

My Fear Becomes Reality

I wrote here about how my new Bank of America Alaska Airlines credit card was preregistered for Dining Rewards. In that post, I predicted that my preregistration would come with no or low sign-up bonus.

A few weeks ago, I received this letter from Alaska Dining Rewards welcoming me to the program:

The letter offers me "500 miles for spending $30 within one days 30 days of creating [my] profile and registering. 500 miles is better than nothing, so I should be happy. However, I'm not.

I strongly believe that this auto-registering after applying for a new card will continue. As I wrote previously, this auto-registration saves Dining Rewards money. They have less people who could qualify for increased sign-up bonus like the 1,500 United bonus miles offer.

I hate being right sometimes. And I hope that this is a outlier and not the "New Normal.
